Blessing for Someone Dying

Beloved,

May the mystery of the universe wrap around you like Holy arms holding you

pulling you in for a tight embrace and

then, kissing you on your forehead.

May you know how deeply loved you are.

That your life is a miracle and you are made of the stars.

Allow your earthly life, to become pure energy that remains in all of the places you've traveled.

Your voice, to remain sweet music in all of the ears you've spoken to.

Your body, to be embraced by the great unknown.

You, my dear, are moving further into the infinite.

And though your tender heart is heavy, please allow the Mystery to hold you.  To beckon you in.  You are their lover, and they are calling to you now.

To join them, once again, in a new, yet familiar form.

- REV. NIKKEYA BERRYHILL

Night Sky with Stars

"Grief is not a disorder, a disease,

or a sign of weakness.

It is an emotional, physical, and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love.

The only cure for grief is to grieve."

- RABBI EARL GROLLMAN

"Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others.  Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity."

- PEMA CHODRON
